nbamazing … if advanced stats voted for nba all-stars

i don’t feel like debating myself right now, so i’m gonna let advanced statistics pick my all-stars today … just call ‘em the AS ALL-STARS, if you will.

actually, a better name for this team would be the all-teammate squad, since that’s what adjusted plus-minus measures better than traditional boxscore stats: who’s the best teammate?

so with that in mind, i’m filling out my nba.com all-star ballot today by putting more weight on APM than any other numbers.

all players that have 2-year adjusted plus-minus scores of +5 or higher made the team, unless they had negative 1-year adjusted plus-minus scores or didn’t play enough minutes in 2009-10 to qualify (30 minutes per game).

after that, i looked at the top 1-year adjusted plus-minus players for 2009-10 and made sure their two-year numbers showed positive support for their inclusion (two-year and three-year adjusted plus minus stats are more reliable than one-year due to sample size)PER scores and minutes played were mostly used to break near ties.

apologies to luol deng, whose +25 1-year score is astounding, but i gave the 12th man edge to dwight howard because his two-year numbers are right there and his PER score is much higher … also, to you kevin durant fans, know that he has made drastic improvement in the adjusted plus-minus world, going from a -9 last season to a +7 this year so far, with his defensive numbers showing drastic improvement. it’s no wonder why the thunder now have the 7th best defense.

that’s all for now. gotta go! 15 minutes to judge wapner …
