(everybody has, actually) ... and her name is carissa moore. we have also seen the present. and her name is stephanie gilmore ... boy, i can't wait ... uh, i mean, girl, i can't wait til 2010 when this 17-year-old rookie-to-be goes wave-for-wave with the 21-year-old newly-crowed 3-time champ on next year's asp women's tour. as for today (saturday), carissa won the 2009 gidget pro at sunset beach as an amateur beating pros, while steph clocked enough points to clinch the 2009 asp season title. carissa told asp: “It’s such an honor. I’m speechless right now. I never thought that I would make the Final in this event. back-to-back-to-back again ... with a 3rd-place finish in the gidget pro saturday--the 7th of 8 asp events this year--stephanie gilmore clinched the women's surfing title for the 2009 asp season, winning the women's championship for the 3rd straight year. gilmore, 21, became the first person ever--man or woman--to win 3 asp titles in her first 3 pro seasons. steph told asp: “It’s surreal to win for a third time. It’s amazing! I woke up this morning and knew it was going to be a good day. The waves were building and you sort of get that fuzzy feeling throughout the day. I really don’t even know what to think about it. I just want to thank everyone for the support that I’ve had throughout the whole year.” so much has been made by us of the stellar rookie class on the women's tour ... but ain't nobody gaining on happy gilmore here!! now go get your money, girl! ... and congratulations!! ... photo by vans triple crown of surfing

okay. helen reddy didn't exactly write it that way ... but she may have done a remix had 17-year-old carissa moore been playing gidget back in those days. no matter. the sunset beach audience definitely took notice of the fresno beach fave as the 2010 future asp rookie posted numbers too big to ignore friday at the 2009 gidget pro in hawaii. round 3 continues saturday. moore told asp: “I’m super stoked to have made it into the main event and I was really looking forward to it. I knew it was going to be a tough heat because the girls I was surfing against, I’ve grown up with, and they have been ripping really hard.
