my man mike osegueda of the fresno bee has a great q&a on the central cali fave patrick contreras, who is having the most-unique album-release block party for his debut cd saturday night june 20 at fresno's tower district.
contreras is definitely on top of his game now ... just check "the american rock violinist" doing his own take on "purple haze" in this great vid below and you'll see what i mean (love the rooftop performance over tower district!!!).
and the tower district should be the perfect venue for his album-release, as patrick tells mike oz: "It's an outdoor show. The weather will be perfect, and we're in the heart of the Tower District. What could be cooler than that? Also, the band is better than before, and I'm better than before. We are seriously at a high level right now. At recent shows, during our set, I just have to kinda shake my head and laugh because I know we're kicking butt. It's a great feeling."
the show costs $10 and starts at 8 p.m. saturday.
